Reading Max Maxfield's article on the way thing were in Chip Design magazine made me want to share my story...

Boys With Knives

Mount Airy, North Carolina, USA (Circa 1964): When I was young, and for many generations before me, a right of passage was the gift of a pocket knife from "Dad"...

Our new house

Sheffield, England (Circa 1960): When I was almost three years old, my grandmother took me to what I thought was the wrong house...

Getting married as "kids"

Florence, Italy (Circa 1989): My wife and I were fairly young when we got married, at least according to today's standards.  I was 25 and she was 24.  Sure, we weren't kids, but we both looked like kids...

My Earliest Memory

America (Circa 1963): My Earliest Memory is November 22, 1963. Of course the date is well known now...

Troubles with Trombones Sheffield, England (Circa 1969-1971): In which we discover how I was tricked to learn to play the trombone and "The Unfortunate Incident"...

Welcome

These days, an increasing number of younger people don't remember a world without personal computers, the Internet, iPods, cell phones, and color television with hundreds of channels.

In reality, however, it's not so long ago that there were no Internet or MP3 players or cell phones; the only way to make an international telephone call was by means of a human operator; and the only way to purchase music was in the form of a 12-inch dinner-plate-sized vinyl record with physical grooves carved into its face.

We all have stories to tell, and this is the perfect place to tell your tales, to peruse others' chronicles, and to discover The Way Things Were.
